UK / Zambia Structured like a backdoor interrogation, Akropolis 1 positions the audience as both witness and judge, as the piece confronts themes of immigration, legacy, and identity from an African diasporic perspective. It interrogates what it means to be first, second, or third generation and which histories we embody or abandon as we navigate through life. The Movement Art International Dance Festival brings together international contemporary dance artists whose works explore memory, identity, resistance, and human connection. Rooted in the cross-border dialogue between Luxembourg and Trier, the festival creates space for exchange in a world increasingly shaped by division where bodies speak beyond language, borders, and fear. More than a performance festival, Movement Art is a gathering of perspectives, questions, and shared humanity. Drawing from ancient offerings to the gods, particularly in Classical Greece and the Mixtec culture, and the influence of 20th-century dance avant-gardes on mythology, this piece becomes a fusion of dance and sculpture, taking place within the same space and time as a unified, immersive device. Dance: ephemeral, organic, elusive, alive. Sculpture: material, ritualistic, circular, symbolic, enclosing, revealing, and yet shielding the dance from being touched, altered, or harmed. From this work, SuicaFilms, Pepe Andreu, and Rafa Molés created the Screendance short Rito, The Celebration of the Myth, which has received awards in several festivals: - First Prize: DanzaTTack International Screendance Competition, Spain - In Shadow Lisbon Screendance Festival, Portugal Credits Direction: Asun Noales Performers: Sebastian Rowinsky | Asun Noales Choreography: Asun Noales | Sebastian Rowinsky Music: Various Composers Production & Music Arrangements: Eurotrack Installation: Susana Guerrero Photography & Video: Germán Antón Documentation & Music Selection: Francisco Sarabia Communication: La Cultura Portátil Executive Production & National Touring: Amadeo Vañó International Relationships: Federica Fasano Graphic Design: Los Machos Special Thanks: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante (MACA), Fernando Almodóvar, Elio Rodríguez, Georgina Cayuela, and David Donis Bio-Asun Noales The award-winning choreographer and founder of OtraDanza (since 2007) is considered one of Spain’s most distinctive voices in contemporary dance.
